Battery system improves voltage quality

The battery responds fast enough to prevent large current draws, and becomes a filter against rapid voltage variations.

In Elvia's FBI project we supply the battery system and the energiScada™ control system at three of the locations. At Mysen it has improved voltage quality in a home since 2020, and a similar system was installed at Årnes in 2023. A larger system improves voltage quality in a cabin area at Sjusjøen.

How it works

The battery as a filter

The battery system supplies power from the battery when the customer draws more current than a set limit. It responds fast enough to prevent larger current draws from the grid, and so acts as a filter against rapid voltage variations.

Together with a voltage booster

The system works well together with a voltage booster (MVB). At both Mysen and Sjusjøen the battery system is installed alongside a voltage booster from Norsk Transformator.

Controlled by energiScada™

energiScada™ controls the battery system and reports measurement data, so that the effect on voltage quality is documented continuously.
