OLTC improves voltage quality
Automatic tap changing of secondary substation transformers gives better voltage for all the customers the substation supplies.
Elvia's OLTC project tests how automatic tap changing of secondary substation transformers can improve voltage quality for all customers supplied by the substation. Elvia has selected three substations for the project, all with both weak grids and high solar generation.
What Energea delivers
energiScada™ with secure communication
In the project we supply energiScada™, with secure communication between the control unit and the server application. Locally, the control unit operates a tap changer from the German company Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen, and reports voltages, currents and other values back to the server.
Control plans from AMS and weather data
Together with Skivdal Data we have developed the application on the energiScada™ server. It retrieves Elvia's AMS data from Google BigQuery and weather data from met.no. Using these and data from the substation, the algorithms create a control plan for each substation that sets its output voltage for every hour of the day.
Voltage conditions per customer
With the visualisations in the energiScada™ customer web portal, Elvia can see what the voltage conditions will be for each individual customer.
