The Horizon 2020 project E-LAND
Multi-vector energy management, with island mode as the starting point.
The technology partners in E-LAND developed tools for multi-vector energy management, with an emphasis on island mode. The project had pilots in Romania and Spain in addition to Borg Havn.
To fulfil its role as a pilot, Borg Havn procured a battery system, a large solar plant and EOS/SCADA. Control of these components was established, along with a thermal system located at Batteriretur, in a building leased from Borg Havn.

The most demanding parts
Control reaching into critical infrastructure
One of the most demanding tasks was establishing external power and energy management when the equipment being controlled is part of critical infrastructure in a secured network. This places strict requirements both on how the control is connected and on who is able to influence it.
Several energy carriers in one facility
Multi-vector means that electricity and heat are handled by the same control system. Borg Havn's pilot included a battery system, solar generation and a thermal system, which together made up a facility where several energy carriers had to work in concert.
