Flexibility in Borg Havn's power grid
Can the Øra terminal be operated without an external connection to the power grid?
The project set out to assess how Borg Havn can best make use of flexibility in its internal power grid. The work combined practical trials with analyses of what the installation can withstand.
Facts
- Customer: Borg Havn IKS
- Duration: September 2023 to February 2025
- Proof of concept for battery system control
- Hybrid harbour cranes with generators of up to 900 kVA
- Per Olav Dypvik was project manager
Three tracks in the study
Battery system control
A proof of concept for control of the battery system was carried out as part of the Euroflex project.
Solar panels in island mode
The solar plant was controlled so that its output can be regulated when the facility goes into island mode.
Harbour cranes as a resource
Analyses showed how the hybrid harbour cranes, each with electric generators of up to 900 kVA, can together with a battery system provide island mode at the Øra terminal that is good enough for the facility to be operated without an external connection to the power grid.
