AMS rollout at Norgesnett
Meter replacement and fully automatic data collection for around 100,000 customers.
The project was responsible for replacing all electricity meters with AMS (smart) meters in Norgesnett's distribution area, with around 100,000 customers in total. The work began in 2015, when our project manager took part in procuring the installation partner.
When we came back in 2018, it was to lead the meter replacement for the remaining customers, and to put into operation fully automatic collection of consumption data in line with NVE's requirements for reporting to Elhub from December 2018.
Facts
- Customer: Norgesnett AS
- Duration: April 2018 to July 2023
- Around 100,000 customers in the distribution area
- Fully automatic collection to Elhub under NVE's requirements
- Frank Skoglund was project manager
From meter replacement to smart functions
Full-scale meter replacement
We led the meter replacement for the remaining customers until the whole distribution area had moved to AMS. The installation partner had been procured in the first phase from 2015.
Data collection to regulatory requirements
Fully automatic collection of consumption data was put into operation in line with NVE's requirements for reporting to Elhub.
New values out of the meter
Once the solution was in operation, we led the work of extracting new values from the AMS meter and putting to use the smart functions built into it.
Benefits for grid operator and customer
The smart functions gave the grid operator more efficient operations, and at the same time increased the value for customers.
